20th Century-Fox almost became bankrupt because of this movie.

I remember massive car lines at the drive-in and being turned away because of the sell-out ; it's a little easier now to watch and enjoy "you may want to clean it, it's got Pothinus all over it.."

I saw this with my sister and my cousin when it was first released...very long movie, four hours I think. My best memory was right before the feature started a baby started crying (why in the world did someone bring a baby to this movie?) and my cousin Deana yelled out "shut up, baby". The movie wasn't that interesting to a couple of 12-year olds and an 11-year old.
