Parents are forever giving (or throwing) away prized toys and possessions, not realizing how dear they are to their kids or how valuable they are as collectors' items. I can't tell you how many people I've heard lament the loss of their model trains, comic books, baseball cards, and whatnot.

On the other hand, my daughter has herself thrown out lots of things I would've kept. I've pulled some of them out of the garbage.

I saw Dan at a stage appearance at the Queen Theater in Wilmington, Delaware in the early 1950's, who was there with actress Gale Storm promoting a new film. I was one of the fortunate few to obtain a personally autographed photo of both Dan and Gale in the mail a few weeks following because questions I had written down on cards were selected for both of them to answer. Regrettably, when I moved away from home after college in 1956, my mother accidentally threw them away. (I should have taken them with me!!!)
