I LOVED this magazine...it was a 'rival' to Popular Mechanics...I and my late brother, Tim, used to eagerly await each month's featrure "Mail for McCahill" Auto guru, Tom McCahill opining on of course, auto mechanics and other ppopular issues of the time...when the mag folded (or as I suspect, subsumed into Popular Mechanics we were seriously disappointed...McCahill was funny and at times irreverent and we both missed him and his humor greatly. Some of the weirdest ideas showed up in that magazine (This was around the time of the early days of the Viet Nam War - '64 or so) and showed some inventive ideas for battling the VC...for instance - Claymore type mines hung from the sides of softskinned vehicles, such as the 5 ton trucks...fine idea...EXCEPT that there IS a backblast which would kill anyone inside the truck as surely as the VC attackers.
