Most cities had a morning paper and an evening one. A newspaper marked EXTRA! was a specially printed newspaper to give the news about an extremely recent catastrophe or special event.

I vaguely recall one called The World Telegraph & Sun.

Back in the day, San Diego had two newspapers, The San Diego Union, and The Evening Tribune, then they merged and became The San Diego Union-Tribune. Now the paper has been purchased by The Tribune Company, and will be merged with the Los Angeles Times.

I remember when Minneapolis had two daily papers published by the same company (probably common in the bigger cities like New York or Chicago). They were the morning Minneapolis Tribune and the evening Minneapolis Star. All four sons in our family had paper routes at one time or another. When they were old enough to work 'regular' jobs, the older two passed their paper routes on to the younger two. I think it was back in the early 1980s when the papers were combined into one edition, the morning Star-Tribune, commonly called the 'Strib' today.

I would like to see a paper from Calgary, Alberta Canada from November 22, 1955 if you can. I have always wanted to see that.
